An Overview Of Himalayan Pink Salt Seasoning Titusville

By Deborah Kennedy

In most cases, doctors recommend a diet that is low in sodium. While Himalayan Pink Salt Seasoning Titusville is often thought to be a healthier option than table salt, there is no evidence to this being the case. Still, there are numerous people now using the pink version as an alternative to the table version.

In the case of Himalayan, it is actually halite coming from the Punjab region of Pakistan. The reason it is named Himalayan is due to the pink rich clay from which the ore was originally found in the Himalayas. As such, it should be noted that the Himalayan version sold in stores now comes from Pakistan not the Himalayas.

Believed to have been discovered in or around 325 BC, most likely it is the oldest spice on earth. For, Alexander The Great originally discovered the ore when horses would not stop licking the rocks. Later, after sampling the rock, the rocks proved to be halite, a salty tasting mineral. While this is the case, the earliest documented records only go as far back as 1200 BC with the mineral having been discovered by the Janjua people of the time.

Mostly now mined in the foothills of the Pakastani Salt Range system, the mineral has become quite popular all over the world. Chemically, halite is much like the table version when it comes to the salty taste. Whereas, there are other salty tasting minerals mined in the area which are not healthy to eat due to the lack of purification.

In fact, the mineral gets the deep reddish-beet color due to impurities in the rock from which it is mined. While this is the case, the substance has been approved as safe by a number of food and drug administrations. Still, it is important that individuals know this is the case. For, should there be health issues after eating or using the salt with drinks, health officials need be contacted immediately, especially if it is believed the substance played any role in the illness.

The Himalayan salt has a number of uses of Pakistan and around the world. While mostly used to flavor food, it is important to remember that there is no evidence or indication that the substance is any healthier than the table version. At the same time, there are people all over the world using this version which claim that halite has less effect on blood pressure or water weight gain than the table version.

Other uses of halite include, blocks being made into a number of household and kitchen items. For example, griddles, pizza stones, baking stones, bowls and plates. In most cases, there is a glaze which protects food and drink from absorbing the salty taste. As such, when using these items, it is important to follow the cleaning instructions associated with each.

One of the most popular items made with halite are that of lamps which are lit with electricity or candles. For, it is rumored that the substance contained in the lamp will dispel negative energy and clean the air from pollutants inside a home or office. While this has been rumored to be the case, there is no evidence suggesting any health benefits associated with using these lamps. At the same time, whether health benefits exist or otherwise, the lamps do provide low level light while making a nice table top decoration.
